Born and raised in Hong Kong and currently based in Taipei, Mukyu (沐羽) is an award-winning writer whose work centers on the Hong Kong diaspora. His practice spans fiction, essays, and translation. He is the author of the short story collections Perhaps in the Smoke (《煙街》) and Gen-Narrations (《代代》), as well as the essay collections Underdog (《痞狗》) and Floating in Space (《造次》), which probe the boundaries and possibilities of contemporary Chinese nonfiction writing.
Beyond prose, Mukyu’s film adaptation project, Nothing Happened (什麼都沒有發生), was selected for the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion (FPP). He is also the Chinese translator of Jeffrey N. Wasserstrom’s Milk Tea Alliance (奶茶聯盟). Mukyu’s work has received major literary recognition in Taiwan, including the Openbook Good Book Award, the Grand Prize at the Taipei International Book Exhibition Award and the Grand Prize of Taipei Literature Writing Grant. His essays have also been selected for Jiuge’s Best Chinese Prose Selection for 2023 and 2025.
